They say there are 5 classic symptoms of a heart attack:

#1)  Pain or pressure in the chest

#2) Shortness of breath

#3) Pulsating pain in the jaw, neck, or back

#4) Feelings of weakness or lightheadedness

#5) Radiating pain in arms or shoulders

                            ******************

The Doctor will also discuss risk factors, the possible root causes that may lead to the symptoms which in turn lead to the heart ATTACK.

Risk factors include:

age
family history
tobacco
alcohol intake
weight
diet
exercise
diabetes
hormone replacement
blood pressure
cholesterol

                               ****************

When these things are pointed out, it does not always make people happy ...and it often makes people unhappy, but that's because it's an unpleasant thing to deal with.   If we are honest about it though ...we would have to admit that the objective is not to make us angry or mad.  I think we'd have to admit that the motive is good, and usually involves loving concern and care.

I don't know if you anticipated where I'm going with this, but those are the risk factors with dealing with me.  Honestly, I am mentioning it with the utmost concern and care.

I'm going to discuss the symptoms of the cumulative damage to the heart of a nation ...our nation.

One of the risk factors is our history ...and the decisions that our country makes.

Symptoms are things that occur, things we can see or observe.  We saw what happened during the time when Hitler and Stalin came to power.  I don't think any of us want to go down that path.  I've written other blogs about that ...but now I want to only mention what I believe are the three main risk factors.

Risk factors:

#1) Favoring the theory of evolution, while dismissing the validity of the Bible ...our belief in God.

#2) Our relationships and those we are most loyal to.

#3) How we view our future, and that of others ...respectfully.

I believe all three of these are giving us a heart attack, with the 2nd and 3rd, both related to the 1st.

First comes our relation to God.  The second most important relationship that we have is what God gave us through marriage, of one man & one woman.  And the third relationship is the result a that bond between the man & woman ...children. If we respectfully view the future of every human being, that would also address our attitude towards those human beings at every stage of development.  We should be opposed to abortion.

I am not picking on those who struggle in this area ...just like a doctor should not be considered to be struggling with those who would dare accuse a physician of contrary motives if he/she points out risk factors.

These are the risk factors of a nation with a failing heart.  If the heart suffers, then we may not be able to defend it against an attack.

Thanks Julie, for writing this article that follows ...and thanks Greg, for posting it.   (http://www.narth.com/docs/hom101.html)

I think it ties in with what I've experienced while working in the Department of Mental Health, and what I wrote about those experiences (http://istherealucyinyourlife.blogspot.com/)
